Paternity Leave, Firsthand

“Having a child makes you more empathetic […] you become better at all those emotional qualities, both at work and in life.”

Matteo Valenzano - Talent Development Senior Manager Alessandro Natale - Head of Corporate Initiatives

This is how the story begins with Matteo Valenzano, who is originally from Rome but has been living in Pescara for the past nine and a half years. Having just turned 40, he is now leading Talent Development at Fater. Joining him is Alessandro Natale, from Abruzzo, who serves as the Head of Corporate Initiatives and coordinates all managers involved in product launches.
Both Matteo and Alessandro are fathers and managers at Fater, and they reflect on their experiences of taking three months of parental leave. Amid sleepless nights, shared weaning routines, and memorable playtimes, they gain a new perspective: fatherhood fundamentally changes how you view not only your personal life but also your work.

Parental leave is an initiative that we highly value because we recognize it as a time of significant transformation. It is not only a moment to bond with one’s children but also a unique opportunity for personal and professional growth.
Both guests in this episode shared that their time spent with family had a lasting impact, even after returning to the office. They returned with renewed energy, a brighter outlook, and a strong belief that a company’s support can truly make a difference.
